Artist Statement 

As a wildlife photographer, my work with the local brown pelicans is built on patience, trust, and a profound connection with these incredible birds. Capturing their essence requires much more than technical skill; it demands a willingness to build trust, a deep sensitivity to their rhythms, and an openness to enter their world without disrupting it. To achieve this, I spend countless hours in quiet observation, allowing the pelicans to feel at ease with my presence. I've learned that patience isn't just about waiting for the right moment but about respecting the bird's comfort and space. With time, they begin to accept me, and it's in these rare moments of trust that I'm able to photograph them in their truest form. This approach has led to a unique connection between myself and these pelicans- a bond that I believe is evident in every image. My goal is not only to document their beauty but to offer a glimpse into their spirit, creating art that reflects the quiet understanding and respect we share.
